What is the StreamSets Summer ‘21 free service tier?

No. The StreamSets SaaS service is not going to be exactly the same as downloaded software that is deployed by the user directly. We will have a free service tier which will be a great way for new users to try our service, and which is also going to be relevant for many of our existing community users who can finally benefit from Control Hub and Transformer features in addition to Data Collector features. However, note that this free service tier is designed for trials/POCs, and not production-grade deployments.

StreamSets will manage the service, including the free service tier, for users, rather than directly deploying and managing themselves. The free service tier will have access to all the platform features, and will not be time-limited. However, the free service tier will have several limitations. It will be limited to a certain number of pipeline hours per month. It will not offer any specific SLAs (e.g. uptime), and it will not retain data (e.g. job history, logs) beyond one day. 

We strongly encourage existing community users who are currently using Data Collector for production-grade deployments to sign up for the commercial tier of the StreamSets Summer ‘21 service, as it will provide the power of Control Hub and major ongoing feature enhancements, and a production-ready service with enterprise-grade SLAs.
