To provide StreamSets Data Collector (SDC) Support Bundles to the StreamSets Support Team for analysis, we have traditionally had the option of downloading the Support Bundle locally in order to upload them to a support ticket or the option of uploading them directly from SDC to a StreamSets AWS S3 bucket. Starting from December 16th, 2019, we are deprecating the ability to upload Support Bundles directly from SDC to StreamSets.
The reason for deprecating this functionality include the following:
- Uploading Support Bundles as an attachment in a support ticket is the most secure way to transmit data to StreamSets as we utilize a full end-to-end encryption solution within our Support Portal with no file size limit.
- Many customers disable direct internet access from their StreamSets environments (production environments in particular), which does not allow for the use of this feature
- Not all customers have installed their customer.id file in their SDC instances, which make it challenging for StreamSets to associate Support Bundles with the correct customer environment.
From now on, all customers should use the following process to share Support Bundles with StreamSets Support:
- Go to SDC UI → Help icon → Support Bundle → click Download which will generate the zip file for download to your local machine.
- Attach this zip file to the appropriate support ticket in our StreamSets Zendesk Support portal.
