By default, StreamSets uses websockets to connect to the DataOps Platform Control Hub. If you install Data Collector on AWS, that machine needs to be able to use websockets to connect to Control Hub. The Data Collector server also needs to be able to access your origins and destinations. Please see the documentation here.
